Our association 

The purpose of the association is:
(a)    to promote, coordinate and implement measures that serve the economic, cultural and scenic development of the Saargau region. This includes, in particular, the preservation of orchard meadows and the creation of the Viezstraße and the Viez cycle and hiking trail.
(b)    the creation of an attractive catalyst for the promotion of sustainable tourism that extends beyond the borders of the Saargau (the so-called ‘Gaudörfer’ of the town of Merzig and the municipalities of Rehlingen-Siersburg, Mettlach and Perl). This includes measures to revitalise the landscape typical of the Saargau region and to avoid overuse due to heavy development and traffic.
(c)    Cooperation with regional and supra-regional associations, federations and other institutions with similar objectives, in particular the Merzig-Wadern District Tourist Association, the ‘Urlaub auf dem Bauernhof Saarland e.V.’ (Farm Holidays in Saarland) association, the trade and commerce associations in the Saargau region, public authorities, in particular the town of Merzig, the municipalities of Mettlach, Perl and Rehlingen-Siersburg, the local fruit and horticultural associations, the Saarwaldverein and the association ‘Die Naturfreunde’ (Friends of Nature), Saarland.
